Condors clubnights are held on the first Wednesday of each month. We meet at 8pm at The Maypole Inn:

Parachute repacks - Date TBA
Location:
Fivehead Village Hall / St Joseph's Catholic Primary School
Most clubs arrange one repack if you're lucky, the Condors do two! What a great club this is.
Phil Fouracre and Greg Emms have kindly agreed to arrange parachute repacking events for club members to repack their own reserves. Greg is a BHPA registered parachute inspector and packer\, and will be on hand to supervise or help you to pack your reserve if required, so his repack (probably in Exmouth) is probably best if you're a novice.
At Phil's repack, there will be lots of experience on hand, but no official qualifications (just in case that sort of thing bothers you), and you should be happy to pack your own reserve, so better suited to more experienced pilots.
Or just go to the one that's nearest where you live!

Annual General Meeting and presentation of 2011 Trophies. Come and find out what your hard working committee have been doing during the past 12 months, chuck 'em out, elect a new committee, discuss any burning issues you may have, make suggestions for new things. Hey, you could even stand for election yourself! You know the score. That probably won't take very long, so we'll then get on with dishing out all the trophies for the past year's flying achievements, and hear about some of the more exciting and interesting flying that went on in 2011. Free coffee/tea and biscuits provided.

Clubnight Phil Fouracre, Local Sites
Location:
Maypole Inn, Thurloxton
Condors Sites Officer, Phil Fouracre, will take us through the Condors Sites Guide to remind us of what a great range of sites we have right on our own doorstep. Updates on site rules and guidelines, site changes (trees grow, bits of cliff fall into the sea, new fences get put up, landowners change, take off and/or landing areas move, butterflies take over, etc etc), and helpful information about how to get the best flying from each site, XC potential, etc. A great chance for new pilots to find out about our sites from one of our longest standing members, and a timely opportunity for everyone else to share information about flying locally.

Clubnight Rowan Smith, Devon & Somerset Gliding Club

Some members will have seen videos that one of the DSGC members puts on
YouTube showing gliders flying between Beer Head and Sidmouth. Inspired by
this, Graham Human has arranged for one of them to come and give us a bit
more insight about gliding. Thanks, Gray. Looking forward to it.

Event Gliding taster flights, date tba, sometime in the summer

DSGC tow field, North Hill, near Sheldon, Blackdown Hills (between Dunkeswell and Honiton)
As a separate event, a group of Condors members are going for an evening of
winch launched glider taster flights. All places now taken\, but let me know
if you're interested, just in case anyone drops out. Or if enough people
want to do it, we might be able to arrange for two separate evenings. Cost
??35 each.

Partners and children welcome, but will need to contribute towards cost of food. Cost yet to be advised.

Clubnight Ken Wilkinson, Paragliding in Colombia
Location:
Maypole, Thurloxton
Ken went to the Paragliding World Cup competition in Colombia, January 2012.
He flies a serial class glider, he's got dodgy knees, and he's almost as old
as some of the Condors! He didn't come in the top three, he didn't break any
world records, he doesn't fly a prototype competition glider. But, he did do
lots of flying, had lots of fun, brushed up on his dubious grasp ofSpanish,
took lots of photos, and generally had a brilliant time. This is a regular
pilot's experience of flying in a top class competition. If Ken can do it,
anyone can! This promises to be yet another excellent club talk. Can't wait!

Event Christmas party sometime in December, date tba

Back to Sidmouth for another excellent night out at the Royal
York & Faulkner, unless someone comes up with a better idea. Always greatly
enjoyed by those who go, good value for money, fun, fun, fun, but new
suggestions or ideas welcome if you fancy a change. Let your hardworking
social secretaries know what you'd like to do, and they will do their best
to arrange it.
